Hello, My name is Channing Cash and here is my story. I was born in Laos in 1978 where people were self-sufficient and farmed their own land to feed their families and animals. My father was in the military and like most people in my country, my mother and grandparents were part of the farming culture. We took nothing for granted and were happy to live the life that we did. We didn’t have much, but we were content. In the town where we lived, it wasn’t uncommon to find cows, bulls, chickens, pigs, and other animals that were used to help us live. Whenever I’m faced with a difficult decision, I ask myself, ‘What would I do if I weren’t afraid of making a mistake? Feeling rejected? looking foolish? Or being alone?’ I know for sure that when you remove the fear, the answer that you’ve been searching for comes into focus and as you walk into your fear, you should know for sure that your deepest struggle can, if you’re willing and open, produce your greatest strength.
The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.
We are reminded that in the fleeting time we have on this Earth, what matters is not wealth or status or power or fame, but rather how well we have loved and what small part we have played in making the lives of other people better.
